About Us.

Our Beginnings.

Bodmin Revival CIC (BRCIC), established in June 2024, is the culmination of many initiatives that started more than a decade ago by key stakeholders, most notably Better Bodmin, Bodmin Town Council, Bodmin Chamber of Commerce and Cornwall Council.  Like many regeneration organisations, it is the product of evolution rather than revolution. That said, we see the need for some innovations and brave decisions as we begin the work of delivering positive change in Bodmin.

In November 2020, Cornwall Council launched a Town Centre Revitalisation Fund (TCRF) to support the development of investment proposals for town centres in Cornwall. Bodmin Town Council and the Vision Group responded enthusiastically to the opportunities offered by the new fund an ambitious bid for funding was submitted and was successful.  Bodmin Town Team was formed to deliver plans for the transformation of the town centre. The Town Team was a voluntary group made up of representatives from all of the key local organisations from the democratic, business, cultural and public services sectors.  The planning process began with a charrette-style public consultation in March 2022. Assessing the deliverability of the resulting projects clearly identified a lack of local capacity to lead on a number of the identified proposals. The Town Team agreed more local capacity was needed to drive forward the implementation of projects and this could only be achieved by the creation of a new, locally controlled organisation.

Our Plans.

The charrette process allowed local people to co-design a vision for the town, and the momentum from this exercise carried through to a further report being commissioned by the Town Team called Transformative Projects for Bodmin Town Centre. This was finalised in March 2024 and lists a number of priority projects including developing a strategy for vacant shops and buildings, creating employment spaces and opportunities in the town centre and strengthening community space provision.

Once the report was completed, the Town Team set about establishing the organisation to deliver the projects and a new Community Interest Company was born, Bodmin Revival CIC.
One of the first tasks for the new CIC was to complete and Overview and Business Plan. This was completed in November 2024 in an editable format which will be reviewed and updated.

The funding for this report was allocated from Cornwall Council’s Community Capacity Fund. The Community Capacity Fund is part of the Good Growth Programme, which is delivering the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
